He had been excluded from the debate in Philadelphia, and I was an ardent supporter. So I drove to the World Cafe and watched him give his Alternative Debate. It reminded me why I love Gravel. He's not the most attractive, well-spoken candidate, but he's honest and he's an American hero. He's running as an independent in the general election, so I'd check him out. He wants to enable the American people to make laws instead of having to go through Congress, and while he was in the Senate he singlehandedly ended the draft and was one of the major forces in ending the Vietnam war.
