WITHOUT ANGER
September 28 2009

THERE IS A STORE IN OUR TOWN THAT I CAN NOT WALK INTO WITHOUT FEELING ANGER AND TERROR. IT IS JUST A STORE, ONE I HAVE SHOPPED IN MANY TIMES IN VARIOUS AREAS OF THE COUNTRY. HOWEVER, THIS PARTICULAR STORE INVOKES ANGER AND TERROR IN ME. I GET THE FEELING OF INTENSE TERROR HAPPENING IN THAT AREA, OR PERHAPS ON THAT PARTICULAR AREA OF GROUND. I HAVE STARTED NOTICING THAT OTHER PEOPLE EXHIBIT SIGNS OF ANGER AND A GENERAL FEELING OF DEPRESSION IN THIS STORE ALSO. THE PARKING LOT IS DESIGNED IN A WAY THAT REQUIRES AT THE LEAST 10 MINUTES TO GET PARKED AND WALK FROM YOUR CAR TO THE ENTRANCE. EVERYONE IGNORES THE STOP SIGNS AT THE ENTRANCES AND THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS. ONE SEEMS TO LOSE ALL SENSE OF BALANCE WHILE IN THE STORE. CONFUSION REIGNS HIGH ALSO, OFTEN CAUSING THE CLERKS TO 'FORGET' MINOR THINGS, LIKE CHECKING THINGS THAT ARE BROUGHT IN FROM OUTSIDE. IF YOU RIDE THE BUS TO THIS PARTICULAR STORE, YOU HAVE TO WALK FOR 5-8 MINUTES TO GET INTO THE STORE. I GET AN INTENSE FEELING THAT AT ONE TIME PEOPLE IN THAT AREA WERE SO ANGRY OVER SOMETHING THAT I AM WONDERING IF IT IS BUILT ON AN AREA OF LAND WHERE A BATTLE TOOK PLACE TAKING MANY LIVES AND THAT THE HORROR OF THAT SITUATION IS STILL LURKING AROUND, AND HAS SIMPLY FILTERED DOWN THRU THE AGES. THE UNEASY FEELING, THE WARY LOOKS, TAKE TOLL ON THOSE WHO ENTER THAT AREA, AND FROM THE NUMBER OF EMPTY BUILDINGS WITHIN THIS AREA COULD BE AN INDICATION OF SOMETHING OF THIS SORT. SOME WOULD THINK I AM CRAZY FOR THINKING THIS WAY, SAYING 'OH, THAT IS JUST A BAD AREA OF TOWN'. NO, I DON'T THINK SO. YES, THERE IS A HIGHER CRIME RATE, AND YES THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE AREA ARE OFTEN OF THE LOWER INCOME CLASS. HOWEVER JUST SOUTH OF THERE IS AN EVEN LOWER INCOME AREA, AND I DON'T GET THE FEELING THERE. THIS AREA ONLY EMCOMPASSES A FEW SQUARE MILES. SO ALL OF MY INSTINCTS ARE TELLING ME, THAT THERE WAS A HORRID BATTLE OF SOME SORT IN THAT AREA, AND THE TERROR STILL REIGNS HIGH. I SHALL NOT GO INTO THAT STORE AGAIN, UNLESS IT IS AN ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT DO WITHOUT SITUATION. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY I KNOW TO HANDLE IT.
